The Zimbabwe Republic police have finally broken the silence and claimed that they did not use live bullets to disperse protestors.
This comes amid claims that police had been armed with live bullets on Saturday as fear of violent mass protests escalates.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi claimed that no firearm or live bullets have been used during protests that have been held in Harare and Bulawayo.
"Remember when firearms are used or fired at a crowd, there are bound to be casualties. Are the alleged shot people in hospital or being kept by those who are campaigning for attention and thus interfering in police duties," said Chief Supt Nyathi.
The ZRP has off late been accused of heavy brutality on protestors and even those arrested have been met with ill treatment.
Supt Nyathi could claimed police only arrested those who were involved in protests and agitating for violence.
